Palm Pre Delay In India Will See Grey Market Sales Flourish

Palm seem to be making the same mistake done by Apple which brought its coveted iPhone almost a year later after the US release and by then grey market were selling the iPhone’s on full scale. This led to a disappointing sales of iPhone in India, but no one had the unofficial figures and track of how many were being sold off everyday in grey markets. I have seen more iPhone 2G in people hands rather then iPhone 3G which was officially launched in India.

And now the history seem to be created again with Palm Pre and Palm is on the verge of doing the same thing all over again. With absolutely no clue on the what will be its plans for Palm Pre launch in India or any hint of any sorts, Palm Pre fans in India like me are left puzzled. But Yes they(Palm) were pretty fast to announce all their network partners in Europe and US. Its a pretty sad picture as India mobile users are growing at an astronomical rate and still companies like Palm are giving it a cold shoulder.

I can assure you that just after a month of Palm Pre launch, every grey market in India will having the Palm Pre being sold along with their cheap Chinese knockoff’s. And by the time Pre will officially reach here, everyone will be over it until Palm tries to do something about it.

I hope pre will be launched in India soon, not just officially but also UNLOCKED to any carrier in specific. iPhone made 2 mistakes.. first, it launched late and second is that though it was bound to a carrier/contract period, the price was very high. Hope palm has already learnt from history.
